Today, Donald J. Trump became the 47th president of the United States of America.
I didn’t vote for the man, but still, mere hours after his inauguration, I find myself relieved that we have a conservative in the Executive Mansion.
And yet… what’s with this Death Penalty shit, Mr. President?
You know exactly what I mean. He’s allowing - no, he’s fighting for federal executions to resume. They will resume. And there’s nothing we can do about it.
To make things even more complicated, I actually admire President Trump in many ways. He’s fought to end sex change culture, he’s noticeably improved the economy, and he’s sought a complete ban on abortion.
But still I ask, what’s with this Death Penalty shit, Mr. President?
The sleepy old fellow who just left the White House pardoned all but three Federal Death Row inmates. Why didn’t he spare them? That’s right! He didn’t spare them because they were Hate Criminals - in short, the very worst of the worst… at least in the eyes of the Left. Two of them were mass shooters accused of racial violence. He let other mass shooters go. What does this tell you about the Left? That one’s stance on race can determine whether it is just to let him live or die? Hmmm…
Biden’s mass commutation, in essence, tells us that his administration supported the death penalty - even if only in rare cases. Trump, being the antithesis to the “Loony Left,” should do everything in his power to make it clear that mild conservatism is the answer to America’s problems. And that means showing said Loony Left that he can be fairer, more civil, and more thoughtful than them. This includes having the grace to spare every human life - whether it be an unborn fetus or a condemned criminal.
But instead, as this new era begins, I find myself wondering, what’s with this Death Penalty shit, Mr. President?
Very well said, even if I don't entirely agree with you.
